Traveling anywhere for a month is a big undertaking, and a trip to a completely different culture can be especially daunting. To insure that all participants in the Purna Yoga College trip to Pondicherry can focus solely on personal transformation, we've done everything we can to guarantee a smooth and pleasant trip, even for novice travellers.
Come to India with us, and here are five things you WON'T have to worry about.
Quiet Healing Center, where we will be staying, is fenced, with an attended guard house to monitor everyone entering the property. Your room will have a safe for your valuables and travel documents. You will also have secure storage in your room for larger items like computers. The training takes place in Quiet's spacious and well-stocked yoga room, so you don't have to leave the property if you don't want to. However, the surrounding area has an abundance of pilgrimage sites, shopping opportunities, and historical places of note; you will probably want to explore, and you will have plenty of new friends from the training to accompany you. I (and other members of the Purna Yoga community -- we go to Pondicherry often) have always had a gracious reception wherever we went.
2. Clean Food, Water & Surroundings
Quiet is one of the few places I have been in India where I felt 100% confident eating raw fruits and vegetables. They grow a lot of their own food, and the meals are delicious and vegetarian. The kitchen (which is in open view from the dining area) is spotless. Clean water is located throughout the property in large urns; all you need to do is bring a water bottle. You will have several dishes to choose from at each meal, and I can guarantee you won't go hungry!
Accommodations are western-style. Your room will be regularly cleaned and your linens changed. Each room has its own shower and toilet. I am a bit of a neat freak, and I was very, very happy with the standard of care at Quiet.
All you have to do is book your flight, and we take care of the rest. We'll send you a link to help you get your visa, as well as a list of everything you need to bring to cover all travel contingencies. We even book your driver from the airport. (Yes, we've made this journey several times and have first-hand experience so you don't have to figure it out on your own.)
Laundry service is included. You can have up to 5 pieces of clothing washed every day. Just drop them off on your way to breakfast, and pick them up the next day, beautifully clean and folded.
5. Me Time
Quiet offers a full range of spa-style treatments by experienced practitioners. They're great! I had, among others, a cranial-sacral treatment one afternoon, went to nap afterwards, and didn't wake up until the next morning -- DEEP release.
While we have a pretty full schedule with the training, we will include some free time to take advantage of the treatments Quiet has to offer.
Coming with the College of Purna Yoga to Pondicherry really is the easiest way to travel and study in India. There's only one thing that you have to worry about: nobody is going to recognize you when you get home!
